Advocacy

As you know how frustrating it becomes when people aren't listening to the PwSCI . Unfortunately, our society deals it as if it is a mental health problem and outrightly discard them. This becomes very difficult for a PwSCI to deal with as they are not offered all the opportunities nor are they involved in any matters of family or society. When we know that sci is only a physical disability and the days have changed and PwSCI are involving their ingenuity and technology. Today there are hardly any tasks and duties which PwSCI cannot do yes differently. You drive the car by hands and feet and PwSCI drive by hands only by installing hand operated kit in their vehicle's. This is the best example of their ingenuity and using technology to ease their lives and become the part of society.

You can do advocacy by helping the PwSCI to express his/her views, desires and wishes. You can stand up and help these by wiping out the taboos and misconceptions the society has attached.

Your advocacy is needed to transform the society into an inclusive one and make sure that PwSCI get both social sympathy and more importantly social acceptance.

You will have to persuade the public and private sector to clear the misconceptions and treat PwSCI with equal respect and dignity and provide jobs for them. Another aspect is that you will start a campaign of making our physical infrastructure accessible to all as no empowerment is possible when PwSCI cannot go to every space and corner on their wheelchairs. You will have to clear the impediments created by the system and society and the rest will be done by them at their own. Today PwSCI are in every field of life and are giving better results and performance despite of their physical limitations.

You will have to do the advocacy to make society to respect the wheelchair and person on it so that the PwSCI do not waste the crucial time especially students and take longer periods of time in accepting their disability, intermingle with the society, play their part and perform their duties.

You will have to involve your family, friends, colleagues and co-workers in transformation of society to accept the PwSCI as they accept normal persons. Also you will have reproduce these volunteers so that one becomes two and two becomes four in sensitization of giving equal rights to PwSCI.

You will have to make it sure and leave no stone unturned in eradicating and removing all the obstacles and impediments to empower, rehabilitate and make them feel that they are part of our society and they have not come from any other world and stop people to attribute suspicions and apprehensions with PwSCI.

Aijaz Ahmad

Aijaz Ahmad Aijaz was in the critical phase of his life as he had passed the first exam of KAS and was preparing for the next and he was sure to crack it being one of the ultra intelligent student of his area. Who knows what will happen at the next breath and Mr Aijaz while coming to his home after day's work lost the control of his bike and the life turned round the table and all the impending occasions of happiness were over.

Though he was saved but with spinal cord injury and his family got the biggest shock of life as he was the only son of his parents.
